Wedding Song Art!

Found this awesome site yesterday.
You can  turn words into shapes.
Works for pictures as well, but I chose one of the shapes provided.

I used our first dance song,
Nora Jones "Love me Tender"
And used it to create art for our living room.

Love it, and it goes perfectly with our black and white decor!
Easy Easy! :)

Polaroid Display

At our wedding we had a photobooth.
The files were given to us in normal .jpeg form.
However, I love the look of polaroids all mounted on the wall.

This DIY was super easy.
You can make your photos into  polaroid-ish pictures using Picasa, however they don't add the 'polaroid' simulated effect.
 It's basically just a border.
So I opted to download the POLADROID app on my computer.
Super fun and easy to use.
Just drop your photos into the icon, and it transforms your photos with sound effects to boot!
After the photos were rendered I added a sepia effect in Picassa.
(I wanted them to look older... you don't have to do this. But I like the effect.)
I then uploaded my pictures to our nearby photo center (i.e. Walgreens, Walmart Target... etc.)
Purchased black pins from Walmart.
And it was hung, and done! :)

LED Wine Bottle Display

Every time we go to our neighborhood wine bar 58 Degrees & Holding we LOVE how their wine bottles are displayed.

Knowing we would never be able to integrate lighting inside our wall, we opted for some simple floating shelves I bought at Target.

And a simple nifty LED stick we bought at Home Depot! -That's it!
(Couldn't find the link because it's not available online, but they are located in the lighting section at the HD.
  1.  We mounted the floating shelves in accordance to the directions.
  2.  Used mounting tape to mount the LED stick in the back of the shelf, and then added a bottle.
  3. To make sure the bottle didn't fall off we got a tiny block of the same color wood and put in the middle front of the shelf. (You can't even see it!:)

Voila!
Now we just push the button on the side to light up our wine bottles.

Now, our pricey purchased pinots will be properly placed!

DIY French Bathroom Sign

As soon as I learned how to print onto wood--- I HAD TO DO IT ASAP!
Totally revolutionized my day. :)
The crafter's glee.

This is what I had to make immediately.
I love shabby chic french country, and this pairs perfectly with our bathroom.

Doing my usual ETSY and coffee in the morning I ran across this download from BENDAY Paper. They have incredibly cute designs I'm drooling over them all!!!

With  this instructional  by Matsutake I figured out how to take and image and transfer to wood!

Followed the directions to the T and This is the result!

His & Hers Pillows

Last year I made these pillows for our anniversary.

Using Ikea Pillows, I unstuffed them, making a tiny incision at the bottom.
This allowed me to use a hard surface for transfer purposes.

Printed the image with 'Photo Transfer' option on printer.
(This automatically flips the text so you don't have to do it manually)

Cut very very very close to the font on the photo transfer.
(Otherwise you get a bit of a residue around the lettering.)

Got out the level and chalked straight lines.
(Super important as the cut out lettering can get curly and unruly, having a line is necessary.)

Hot heat applied to photo transfer paper and re-stuffed the pillow.
Sewed up tiny incision.

Talk about cute and easy.
Which would be.. in this case... pillow talk.
